Rev. Bernard-Mary Ayo Oniwe, O.P. is a Nigerian Dominican priest of the Dominican Province of Nigeria and Ghana. Shortly after obtaining a bachelors degree in Dramatic Art in 1991 he felt called to the priesthood and religious life on experiencing a deeper love of Christ and the Church, a consequence of fellowshipping with the Catholic Charismatic Movement. He joined the Dominicans in Nigeria, made his solemn profession of vows in 1998 and was ordained a priest on September 23, 2000. Since his ordination, Fr. Oniwe, OP has served as chaplain to college students, youth groups and in hospitals. Also, he has served as associate pastor in parishes here in the US and Nigeria. Presently, he is studying for a PhD in English Literature at the University of South Carolina and helps out with priestly ministry in the Columbia area. He loves celebrating Mass joyfully and reverently. His hobbies include reading, singing, dancing, soccer and skating.
